Vanilla Chai Smoothie

I love Chai Tea. It's probably my favorite, and my drink of choice. I have had all different kinds of Chai. Panera's Chai is probably my most favorite. For those of you who have no idea what Chai tea is, then I'll explain. It's a combination of spices. Mainly cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and cardamon. And of course those spices are blended with tea. It can either be black tea or green tea. I think most Chai tea is made with black tea. I discovered my love for chai tea again when I had to cut out my normal lattes from Starbucks and Panera. I do miss them a lot. But getting a Chai Tea out is a special treat, and I think I may like them more! Also, I don't ever feel bad afterwards. Usually if I have coffee, it can sometimes make me feel pretty bad. I have even noticed that sometimes chai tea can settle my stomach because of the ginger and spices in it. So that's another plus.  

If you have been following along. You have read that I've been trying to drink smoothies more. Read here. Since then I have tried multiple smoothies. I haven't truly liked any of them. Honest. I don't know why, but I just really hate juice. And all natural juice that has no sugar added is just way to tart. But I won't buy juice that has sugar in it. Then again, I really don't buy juice. 

Since I haven't liked any fruit smoothies, I decided to go a different route. A smoothie that isn't all fruit. I came up with a Chai smoothie. What a better way to take something I really love, and make it a smoothie?! And it's easy to throw everything into the blender. I found a recipe online. Next time I make it, I'm going to make adjustments and add in actual chai tea. I think it would make it taste amazing. This smoothie is called Chai, because you use the same spices as you would find in Chai tea. 

Vanilla Chai Smoothie

Ingredients: 

1 Banana
1 Cup Dairy free milk (almond, soy, or coconut) 
1/2 tsp Ginger Powder
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Dash of cardamon, cloves, and nutmeg
1/4 tsp Pure Vanilla 
1 Cup Ice (Optional) 









Instructions:

Add all ingredients into a blender. And blend until a smooth consistency has formed. Add ice last. I like ice in my smoothies. I think it gives it a better texture




The final product will be a creamy smoothie. That has hints of spices. I did like this one a little bit more than an all fruit smoothie. But I have ideas of how to make it more to my liking.

***Next time I make this. I want to add in actual chai tea. And also I'll take out the banana. Then that would make it more of a Chai Tea Frappe!****
