Detox Bath

It’s Monday, again. I used to hate mondays when I was in school. Just because the week seemed SO long. And that was typical. But these days, I try to enjoy every single day. I don’t find much use in “hating” a day. That can make you feel so miserable. I fully understand it’s hard to get back into a weekly routine when you had two relaxing days off. If you’re like me, and you have worked in retail or just don’t have a weekend. You don’t know what it’s like to have a real weekend anymore. So days, just become days. There’s no real reason to dread mondays. But if you can’t seem to get yourself motivated to accept the fact that it’s only a monday. Maybe you should schedule mondays, a you day. (If you have time of course) If not. Any day will work. Are you feeling run down, just plain exhausted for no reason? Maybe it’s your body’s way of telling you that there are a build of toxins and your body is treating it like it’s sick and fighting. Or you could be fighting off something. Since we are still in the lovely flu season…Or so I think. I don’t keep up with that. I’m sick no matter what time of year it is. Anyways, there are A LOT of ways to get rid of toxins in your body. Some can be extremely harsh though. The way I see it. If you are dreading the way you’re getting rid of toxins in your body. It might be the wrong way. I have found a way to help rid of toxins, and it’s pretty relaxing. A detox bath. Sounds nice doesn’t it? It can be a lot more easier on your body than flushing out your system.
Relaxing bath
Since your skin is the largest organ, it protects your internal organs from a lot of outside damage. So it does a lot more than you think. When detoxifying. Your skin will actually eliminate toxins, through sweating. It’s just one more way your body can get rid of nasty toxins. In a detox bath, as your body is eliminating toxins, it’s absorbing the minerals and nutrients in the water. Click here for the full recipe

Epsom Salt- Soaking in Epsom salts actually helps replenish the body’s magnesium levels, combating hypertension. The sulfate flushes toxins and helps form proteins in brain tissue and joints.
For children under 60 lbs- 1/2 cup
60-100 lbs- 1 cup
100 lbs and up- 2 cups or more

Baking Soda-  Known for its cleansing ability and even has anti-fungal properties.

Ginger- Ginger helps the body heat up, helping you sweat out toxins. But it may be a skin irritant. So this can be optional. Start with 1 tablespoon. And work your way up to 1/3 cup. Most people sweat profusely with the addition of the ginger, and if you wrap your body in a blanket immediately after getting out of the tub, you can continue to detoxify through perspiration for another couple of hours. This is especially beneficial if you are trying to rid the body of a bug of some sort, like the flu, or a cold.

Essential Oils- Using oils can add to the relaxing factor when taking a detox bath. Lavender and peppermint are good for relaxing.
Once you start running your bath water. You’ll want it comfortably hot. So it makes you sweat. Add all of your ingredients and swish around.
Soak in the tub for about 40 minutes. It’s okay if you start out slow though with the time. Maybe you can only handle 15 minutes at first. That’s okay. Or if you feel you can soak for more time, that’s all up to you. They say, the first 20 minutes is when your body is getting rid of the toxins. And the next 20 it’s soaking up the minerals.
Once you’re done soaking. Be careful getting out if you feel very lightheaded. Drink plenty of water during and after the detox bath, to help keep flushing out toxins. If not, it could make you feel sick.
You’ll want to relax for the rest of the day, so your body can continue to detoxify and heal.
This detox bath is not only good for weekly detoxing. But it can help when you are sick with the cold or flu. If you have a child that is sick, you can give them this bath. But make sure you use smaller measurements and they don’t have a reaction to any of the ingredients.
You should take a detox bath once or twice a week. Or when you are just feeling run down.

Since I’m not a doctor, I’m not saying this will prevent or treat anything. It’s just an all natural remedy to help you feel better.

Cheers to relaxation and detoxification!
